Week 01

Creating safety and connection

Establish shared agreements, confidentiality, and expectations for feedback. Identify each clinician’s strengths, learning goals, and what helps them feel supported in supervision.

Week 02

Understanding clients through a trauma-informed lens

Explore how history, relationships, culture, and current circumstances shape clients’ responses. Practice understanding symptoms and protective strategies within their context.

Week 03

The therapeutic relationship as a foundation

Examine trust, attunement, collaboration, and client choice. Discuss moments of disconnection and ways to acknowledge and repair them.

Week 04

Pacing, readiness, and stabilization

Use cases to consider when to slow down, strengthen resources, or move toward deeper work. Explore consent, overwhelm, and the clinician’s urge to push for progress.

Week 05

The clinician’s internal experience

Reflect on countertransference, uncertainty, rescuing, avoidance, and pressure to “get it right.” Practice noticing these responses and using supervision to understand them.

Week 06

Boundaries, power, and cultural responsiveness

Explore how authority, identity, privilege, and lived experience influence treatment and supervision. Practice setting clear boundaries while preserving warmth and collaboration.

Week 07

Assessment, safety, and ethical judgment

Discuss risk assessment, safety planning, scope of competence, consultation, and referral through current cases. Consider how to preserve dignity and client participation during difficult decisions.

Week 08

Navigating stuck points and clinical complexity

Examine cases involving disengagement, ambivalence, recurring crises, or limited progress. Revisit formulation and goals with curiosity and develop workable next steps.

Week 09

Sustaining the clinician

Identify signs of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and overload. Explore caseload boundaries, support systems, and workplace conditions alongside personal care.

Week 10

Integrating growth and developing confidence

Revisit initial goals, identify changes in clinical judgment, and reflect on remaining learning needs. Create an ongoing supervision and professional-development plan.
