ABBE UTTER, LPC-MHSP
I am a licensed professional counselor, mental health service provider (LPC-MHSP). I received my B.S. in Psychology from Freed-Hardeman University and my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University.
I am trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) levels 1 and 2, Somatic Experiential Therapy level 1, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Trust-Based Relationship Intervention (TBRI) Levels 1-4, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Gottman Method for Couples (level 1), and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
I am passionate about helping others feel free and empowered. Due to life-experiences, hurts, shame, we can all experience dissonance from self and find ourself with a myriad of symptoms due to what we have been through.
My hope, through using an integrative, individualistic therapeutic approach, is to help each client feel less-burdened and gain autonomy—freedom to be the truest, most alive version of self.
I am especially focused on working with individuals that have experienced trauma. Further, I have experience in working with individuals seeking to recover from an eating disorder; I work from evidenced-based modalities and am HAES-aligned. I have found that trauma, the body, and spirituality are intertwined in the healing work, and I am passionate about walking with individuals navigating their healing in regard to their spirituality. Further, I see individuals for:
-Existential concerns//Identity work—(Who am I? Where do I belong? What do I want? What do I believe?)
-Anxiety
-Depression
-Stress in Relationships
I welcome clients from all walks of life, in all bodies, and all genders.
